MOMOCURLY’s last gift to 2020 is the release of the digital single and music video for the song City Girl. For the duo, this is the start to a new path, the route that will define their music as City Pop and a new album. Since their formation, they have been combining jazz and pop which already gives out that urban vibe for easy-listening and enjoyable pop music. It still is groovy and smooth, as we are accustomed to it in regards with MOMOCURLY. Although now, since they are in the big city of Tokyo, they can put that City Pop stamp on it even more.

Currently, being in Tokyo, they had the chance to do a couple of performances and they have worked on a new album. This track is the second track that can be found back on the upcoming record, in addition to the in September released track Tokyo Ride. That song also received a music video where vocalist and keyboardist Momo Otani walks around the city in the evening, but there is also focus on the two musicians performing on their instruments as well. For City Girl, they have chosen for a long stroll through Miyashita Park in Shibuya with full focus on Otani.

It is time for an evening walk, before meeting up with someone. What music to put on while walking and enjoying the scenery? Allowing to let everything pass you while you walk slowly forward and enjoy the night. City Girl is a perfect fit for this description. It is a romantic and slow song, but not sappy at all since there are groovy riffs to make it danceable. They are versed in the music that they are creating and with the new tracks that have been shared by MOMOCURLY, increases the anticipation for the upcoming only more.

2020 has been an interesting year for MOMOCURLY, consisting of Momo Otani from Tokyo and guitarist Christophe Pannekoucke from Paris, with the release of their first music video for the song Candy, and first album Cosmic Lips, they received quite some attention. After that they went to Japan for performances, while the pandemic did change some of their plans, it seems it didn’t let them stop for a minute. The band is very active on Instagram and YouTube, with regular livestreams, videos and photos from the duo. In the meantime, they have finalised their second album. There is no release information yet about the upcoming album of MOMOCURLY, but since the album is finished we might hear about it soon enough.

Colourful artistic cover of TsuShiMaMiRe 20th full-length album バンドは水物 (MIZUMONO), featuring the three members at that time, vocalist and guitarist Mari, bass player Yayoi and drummer Maiko. There are masks drawn on their faces and on top of it the band name and album title in a font that seems like splashes of water.
