After postponing the second edition of Monster of Dolls from May to November 2020, the organisation behind the idol festival announced that the event will not take place this year, but in 2021. The exact date has not announced yet, but the organisation of the Italian event stated that the plan is to organise the Japanese music event in September 2021. The reason for this is all to do with the current situation regarding COVID-19.
The organisation shared a message on their social media and website about the second postponement of the festival: “We have tried keeping the November 21st event alive until the very last minute, but sadly, as the international situation worsened due to the rise in new infection cases, our country has simultaneously extended its state of emergency and introduced new restrictions, which makes carrying out MoD2020 impossible in the planned dates.”
They added: “The management of logistics in full compliance with stringent regulations and the intercontinental movement of guests place us in front of insurmountable problems. Added to the above, are the extension of the regulations that lower the capacity of venues and the concomitant presence of fans of 13 different nationalities, which makes it impossible for many of them to reach our premises in Bologna, and increases the complexity and risk for the organisers and the venue itself of managing accesses from very different areas of Europe, increasing the chances of contagion. On the 21st of November, Monster of Dolls will announce the exact date. After that, the organisation will communicate about the tickets that have been purchased.
