One of Japan’s most popular foods: sushi, but in candy form! These adorable tiny sushi gummies by Meiji can be assembled however you like, as each component is in a separate piece of the mould. The flavours of these candies are supposed to be: lemon, peach and banana.
The yellow toppings definitely had a lemon flavour to them and a firm texture, but not too firm. Slightly sour, fitting for a lemon flavoured candy.
The pink ‘fish’ toppings had a peach flavour to them, which reminded me of peach candies. The gummies were firm, but not too firm. They were still easy enough to chew. These had a sweetness to them, but it wasn’t overpowering.
When it came to the ‘rice’ gummies there was a clear banana flavour and the texture was slightly firmer than the topping gummies.
None of the gummies leaves a strong aftertaste, which makes it easier to eat different flavours after one another. There weren’t any flavours I disliked, even when combined, but I did prefer them separate from one another.
