Kanon Wakeshima’s upcoming shows in mainland Europe at the end of August will be postponed due to recent changes in regulations of Great Britain and France. The musician was planned to perform in Belgium with the message that a show in Poland would be added as well. Soon after this announcement, the show in Poland would get postponed to December, since the city where Kanon Wakeshima would perform went in lockdown. The label and tour organiser HIGHFeeL worked hard on extra dates, in France and Switzerland, but in the end, the planned mini-tour at the end of August will not go through at all.
HIGHFeeL shared a statement about the postponements of the shows: “I guess we dreamed too hard. The recent decision of Great Britain (where Kanon Wakeshima is currently staying) to impose a quarantine on passengers coming from Belgium and/or France, coupled with France’s announcement to do the same, would force Kanon to 14 days of isolation on arrival and return… This does not allow her to travel serenely, and even less to perform in concert. We are therefore forced to postpone the announced dates, and we are very saddened by this. We sincerely hoped to be able to offer you these few concerts, which would have done a lot of good to everyone in these gloomy times. But we do play by the rules. After discussion with Kanon Wakeshima, we have decided to continue our collaboration, and will come back to you with a new program, as soon as this is possible again.”
The uncertain times makes it hard to plan performances in the near future, since things may change drastically in a few months, even in a week. And this is a very good example of it. When new dates are announced and more information, it will be shared on AVO Magazine.
All changes of Japan-related events and events where Japanese musicians are planned to perform are compiled in a list that you can find here. This list will be regularly updated.
