MV Review: GO TO THE BEDS – I don’t say sentiment

Don't GO TO THE BED after watching this.

When music company WACK announced that GANG PARADE would be separated into two groups, PARADISE and GO TO THE BEDS,  the question became which would prove the stronger unit. As each group has released singles and music videos, and both have upcoming full album releases in July, it seems this question may not be answered anytime soon – but what is clear, is the difference in sound and presentation.

PARADISES appears to play to the more cutesy, traditional idol style, whereas GO TO THE BEDS appear to be the rougher, edgier style, and this is apparent in their debut  DON’T GO TO THE BED video and their most-recent  I don’t say sentiment music video.

GO TO THE BEDS consists of members, Yamamachi Miki, Yumeno Yua, Can GP Maika, Yui Ga Dockson and Coco Partin Coco.

The video itself consists of vivid hellscape imagery, almost a fever dream, where each member performs on what appears to be a fiery mountainside, as a storm rages around them, there are images that appear to depict dark magic or mysticism, with the members appearing to fall from the sky, their eyes glowing. The video is also intercut with scenes of each member trapped between what appears to be white bedsheets (given the name of the group). The choreography is typical of WACK’s style, highlighting the group’s energy and synchronicity.

The track is energetic, catchy and powerful, once again highlighting each member vocal strengths and their continued ambition to create music. Whether the sub-unit will remain, or whether they will ultimately return to GANG PARADE, will depend on Watanabe’s ambition for the group and possibly will depend on fan response – but until then, we will have to see what GO TO THE BEDS will create.

Rating: 80/100

GO TO THE BEDS’ first full album and PARADISES’ first full album will be released on July 22, 2020.
