Remember these adorable little fish-shaped snacks from my previous review? If not, be sure to check it out. When some new versions of these fishes became available, it seemed only logical to review these as well.
Meito – Puku Puku Tai Watermelon
Price: ±€2,-
Upon opening the first thing that stands out is the strong sweet smell coming off of this snack and the vibrant colours of the snack itself. The thin, creamy and bubbly white chocolate quickly melts in your mouth and has a watermelon flavour to it. The crunchy outer layer added flavour and texture, this seemed to have a ‘normal’ flavour despite the green colour. The watermelon flavour seemed slightly stronger than the flavour of an actual watermelon would be, probably because it is more concentrated in this snack.
Meito – Puku Puku Tai Double Berry
Price: ±€2,-
Just like the watermelon variety this one had a strong smell to it, it mainly smelled like raspberry. The flavour of this snack wasn’t as strong as you might expect from the smell. The chocolate was creamy and had a clear red fruit flavour to it, with hints of strawberry and raspberry. Again the wafer added some crunch, but not any dominant flavours to it. It was sweet, but not too sweet. The package of this puku puku tai is decorated with the popular Yumekawa Unicorn.
Both of these new versions were, although different in flavour, very similar to the previous versions. The crunchy wafer exterior and the bubbly, melts in your mouth, chocolate inside create a yummy combination. If I’d have to pick I prefer the simpler chocolate flavour from my previous review, but to be honest I can see myself trying these two again as well as they were definitely tasty as well.
