Connichi will skip 2020 and focuses on 2021 edition

The German convention Connichi is another major event that has had to inform both its visitors and partners that they have been forced to cancel the 2020 edition.

After the decision of German government to ban mass gatherings until the end of August of this year, it was difficult for the organisation to go ahead with the 2020 edition since it was planned in the first week of September. The organisation stated that safety comes first for their visitors, volunteers and organisation team and this is something they cannot guarantee at this current level of information. The organisation also checked if they could postpone the event, but was not able to find a suitable alternative date.

The organisation added: “We had prepared a great programme for you again this year with the best from the German fan scene, great guests of honour from Japan, an extended Matsuri festival and much more.”

Now the organisation of Connichi will focus on their next edition, planned from 3 to 5 September 2021 at Kongress-Palais in Kassel. There are now two options for those who had purchased a ticket for the 2020 edition: you can choose to keep them to use it for the 2021 edition, the tickets will be automatically rebooked by Connichi. You don’t have to do anything else. Another option is to cancel your ticket free of charge until 31 July. The ticket shop of Connichi is now opened to sell tickets for the 2021 edition.

Connichi is an annual, 3-day anime convention in Germany and one of the largest of its kind in the German-speaking world. Last year they invited FLOW for a concert on Saturday evening, making it their second performance in Europe.

All changes of Japan-related events and events where Japanese musicians are planned to perform are compiled in a list that you can find here. This list will be regularly updated.

The photo shows the members of Violent Magic Orchestra, outside what appears to be a European city at night. Most probably the photo was taken in Norway. The members are all posing differently and dressed in black, all are wearing the same band shirt.
