Just like every year, Japan Museum SieboldHuis was planning to organise a new edition of the Japan Market on the Rapenburg in Leiden. For many Japan lovers it is a regular activity to visit. But since the Dutch government decided to ban all gatherings until 1st of June, there will be no Japan Market in Leiden this year. The Japan Market was planned for the last day of May.

Every year, Japan Museum SieboldHuis organises the Japan Market to commemorate the Japanese Emperor’s visit to Japan Museum SieboldHuis and Rapenburg on 25 May 2000. Every year the Japan Market offers the visitors different facets of Japanese culture with many stalls from culinary and cultural wares.

Japan Museum SieboldHuis decided to announce the next edition already, namely on Sunday 23 May 2021. The location will be the same, at the same street as where you can find the museum: Rapenburg in Leiden.

Japan Museum SieboldHuis offers a collection of ancient Japan in a historic Dutch house on the Rapenburg in Leiden: prints, lacquerware, ceramics, fossils, herbaria, prepared animals, coins, clothing, old maps and hundreds of other treasures. All objects were collected between 1823 and 1829 by the Bavarian doctor in the Dutch service Philipp Franz von Siebold.
