On Christmas Day the four ladies of GIRLFRIEND published a video in which they had an important announcement for the fans of the group. In the video, which is entirely in Japanese, GIRLFRIEND announces that they will be performing outside Japan again in 2020. They have shows planned in the United States, Brazil and Germany. All performances will take place at conventions, giving GIRLFRIEND the opportunity to appeal to a large audience with their music.

In April, the girls will leave for Anime Boston for a few days on 10 and 11 April, after which they will have to wait until July before continuing their journey outside of Japan. Anime Friends in Brazil takes place during two weekends, one weekend in Rio de Janeiro and another weekend in São Paulo. Exactly when GIRLFRIEND will perform will be announced at a later time, but the organisation of Anime Friends has announced that GIRLFRIEND will have two shows in Brazil. Rio de Janeiro would take place from 17 to 19 July. One weekend later, the event should take place in São Paulo, from 23 to 26 July. AnimagiC will take place from 31 July to 2 August.

The performance in Germany had already been announced at the end of November, but apparently this news stayed rather under the radar. In addition, the performance on AnimagiC 2020 will be in collaboration with TV Asahi Music and is a European premiere, which will probably mean that there will be no other show of the girl group in Europe.

The all-girl band GIRLFRIEND consists of four young musicians from Osaka who write and compose their own music. They usually continue to work hard to perfect their instrumental skills, but also their experience on stage. GIRLFRIEND has been active since 2015 and soon had the attention of the record companies with their first release. Their first album CHOCOLATE was released in 2018 and contains mostly tracks that had been released before, including two songs for the anime series Twin Star Excorcists and Mirailist. Looking at the most recent releases, GIRLFRIEND has already released their fifth single sky & blue, which was the opening song for the anime series Black Clover. In November the digital single Figure was released and for Christmas, the girls released another digital single. In 2018, GIRLFRIEND performed in Singapore at the event organised by Asia Game Festival x Anisonic.
