YOSHIKI has donated 10 million yen (converted to euros we speak of almost € 84.000) to Japan’s Chiba prefecture which suffered a devastating blow from Typhoon Faxai on 10 September 10 2019.

YOSHIKI posted his personal message on Twitter after the disaster. “I’m in America now, and I just became aware that my hometown of Tateyama was hit, along with the entire Chiba prefecture, by a typhoon causing massive amounts of damage. I’m very concerned, and I’m praying for a fast recovery.”

今アメリカにいます。
先ほど、僕の故郷である館山をはじめ千葉県全域で、台風による大きな被害が出ていることを知りました。
とても心配です。一日も早い復旧を心から祈っています。

— Yoshiki (@YoshikiOfficial) September 11, 2019

YOSHIKI made the donation to the Japanese Red Cross Society through his nonprofit organisation Yoshiki Foundation America. Last month, YOSHIKI donated $100,000 (around € 90.000) to Leonardo DiCaprio’s Earth Alliance to combat Amazon forest fires and 10 million yen to support victims and survivors of the Kyoto Animation fire.

The internationally renowned Japanese rock star has lived in Los Angeles for over 20 years, but still holds a strong affection for his home country. “I’ve been working abroad for many years, but my feelings for my hometown have not changed. I’m sorry this is all that I can do. Please allow me to lend what little help I can offer by making this heartfelt donation. I am praying for your recovery with all my heart.”

always a bit mixed feelings when famous people donate and communicate about it. first of all it is great they donate and maybe other (famous) people will follow and also donate. but on the other hand I suspect those people of creating a decent imago by donating and communicate about it… Me meself I try to donate “in silence” beacuse the needs of other people are more important than my personal branding… what do YOU think?

You and I are different in this case, don’t want to receive the credit and attention of what we have done for a good cause. But were are also not that known in this world. It is indeed part of personal branding and also a way to show that others can do the same. I don’t mind to hear about this more often instead of the negative news that we hear and see every day. 🙂
