envy will be one of the bands performing on the special event of MONO, coming December in London. The hardcore band decided to add a few extra dates to form a European tour. envy will tour with the English hardcore punk band Svalbard and they will perform in the United Kingdom, Belgium, France and Germany.

Active since 1992 and hailing from Tokyo, the band envy has been seen as Japan’s most iconic and influential post-hardcore band.

envy’s latest release is from 2018, a single titled Alnair in August. This single almost didn’t happen as the band had been struggling with the band line-up and creativity after coming back from their North American tour in 2015. It is expected that a full-length album will be released later this year.

In April 2018, the band announced a new line-up of the band with vocalist Tetsuya Fukagawa, guitarists Nobukata Kawai, Yoshimitsu Taki (9mm Parabellum Bullet) and yOshi (killie), bassists Manabu Nakagawa and drummer Hiroki Watanabe (Heaven In Her Arms). Tetsuya Fukagawa came back to the band after leaving envy in 2016.

They have recorded a number of singles and albums in Japan, including split albums with bands like Thursday, Jesu, This Machine Kills, Endeavor, Six Pence and Yaphet Kotto. Since their beginning, envy toured all throughout the world with bands as Mogwai, ISIS, Deafheaven, and many more. In June, envy performed a few shows in Europe surrounding their show at Hellfest in France.
