On Saturday 13 July, Le Garage in Liège will be transformed into a Japanese festival, in Japan better known as a Matsuri, under the title Un jour d’été au Japon (A Summer day in Japan). The day, organised by tour organisation REALive, will be filled with several activities surrounding Japanese traditions, from workshops, lectures to several expositions, but also live performances from Ekotumi and Ichion (イチオン).
Japanese singer-songwriter Ekotumi sings about Japanese mythology and folklore. She is started with as a singer for movie soundtracks while still a student, graduated from Waseda University and has appeared in numerous stage musicals. Furthermore, she has been active with live performances, promotional videos, image songs and theme songs for games. Ekotumi performed several times in Europe, but her performance in Belgium will be the first time.
The Japanese band Ichion (イチオン) started with activities in 2008 and consists of vocalist Kyra and Akira who plays the electronic instruments. The music of Ichion is based on Ainu music in combination with electronic experimental music that incorporates home-made instruments and environmental sounds. They describe themselves as NEO spiritual and include LED lights in their performances, which contributes to a multidimensional cyberspace, according to Ichion.
You can keep an eye on the Facebook event for more announcements in the near future. Un jour d’été au Japon will start from noon till 22.00.
