REMNANT released short film Mickey Finn

After the goth unit REMNANT shared several behind the scenes photos of their short film Mickey Finn as a teaser for something new from the hand of the group, the short film got finally released on 20 March. You can expect more music soon from REMNANT as the goth unit will celebrate its 10th anniversary later this year.

The short film is a prologue of the upcoming song Twins, this song will be released in the future and will also get its own music video.

First, a photo with under title Uninvited Dinner (招かれざる晩餐。) was shared with the fans. The mystery of the photo gives a lot of questions. The photo gives an idea of guitarist Takmi agonising over his plate full of cupcakes, does he has enough of it? Singer Marie enjoys her chicken and the man of the synthesizer and noise, Rober, is enjoying his red wine. Are these three the uninvited persons for dinner or did they bring dinner that was not invited?

The short film is indeed short as it is only 1 minute and 44 seconds long. A piano piece can be heard in the background while an image is shown of a dim street in a European city, probably one of the cities that REMNANT recently visited, to capture a dark and mysterious atmosphere of the short film. Soon after, the (uninvited) dinner can be seen; wine gets poured in the glasses and the plates of food get emptied. The music starts to take more shape with the adding of a violin, while you can see how the group members enjoy enjoying their food and talk to each other. Although, you can’t hear what they say to each other. The short film ends with Marie enjoying her food alone, while the rest are leaning forward with their heads on the plates. The question is, did Marie served the men a “Mickey” as they were the uninvited persons for dinner and will we find the answer in the music video of Twins?

Last year, the unit was one of the performers at AVO J-Music Festival at Zuiderparktheater in The Hague. You can watch their performance back in whole on YouTube.

I am not sure what to think about this short video. It is a bit disturbing but I want to see more.
