Bandai – Super Mario Maker Gummies – Simple
Price: ± €6
Extra supplies: Scissors, Water
With this kit you create red, orange, yellow and green Super Mario Maker gelatine candies. Which characters you’ll be able to make depends on the mould that you get with your kit, there are multiple versions. There are also several backgrounds available, six to be specific. This is a set that doesn’t take much time to do. It only takes a few minutes before the candies are done and ready to be removed from the mould.
The kit is pretty easy to make, but if you want to use multiple colours in one character it’s tough, because you’re working with powder. The kit was fun to make and placing the candies on the background was definitely fun too.
The final product looks pretty fun, you can create your own Mario scenario. The candies are a lot less see-through and clear than you’d expect from the package.
The texture of the candies is a little chewy. The green candies tasted like apple, but that was the only colour of which the intended flavour was very clear to me. I thought the yellow one tasted like lemon, but the flavour was faint and the orange one tasted like orange. The red one wasn’t easy to recognize, but it did taste a little like red fruit. None of the colours had a very strong flavour to them.
Want to enjoy this kit again?
Clean the mould with warm water, after using it, and let it air dry.
If you want to reuse the mould you could make gummies or chocolates. Another thing you could do is press fondant into the mould to shape it, for example.
