Last April, Kikagaku Moyo (幾何学模様) came up with the EP Stone Garden. To promote this, the band released a music video for the instrumental track Trilobites.
Kikagaku Moyo (geometric patterns) is best described as a psychedelic band, although the band describes it completely differently with feel-good music. And basically, this is true. The music that the band makes is often focused on creating a dreamy atmosphere, sometimes accompanied by vocals.
Filmmaker Kamiel Rongen has incorporated the track Trilobites in his own way, in which you see a mix of various substances that can not be immediately translated with light and dark, thus enhancing the psychedelic effect. In Trilobites you hear guitar haggling with echo, later you hear a solid guitar playing, but the atmosphere that is created is still dreamy. It sets the mood for the EP, which has a fiercer tone.
While the music on CD can serve well as background music, it will only really penetrate you with a live show, because all sounds will vibrate through your body. But if a live show does not come, then Trilobites is certainly a great track to enjoy the summer sun, while you enjoy a drink or perhaps more. Despite that Trilobites feels short, but it’s nice to hear if you like psychedelic instrumental music.
