MV Review: April in 85 – Re:Trance
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on RedditShare on Tumblr

It is April and that is for the rock band April in 85 a great month to get extra attention. This band from ex-the butterfly nine cord singer and guitarist yuichi abe started with activities last October and has had a number of releases in the meantime.

The next release is scheduled for April 7 during the live show THE DREAMING BAY at Shimokitazawa Daisy Bar: Re:Trance/REMEMBER.To promote this release, April in 85 released a music video.

The talented sentaro has taken on the task of directing the video. sentaro is the regular man for the videos of yuichi abe, previously he has also made videos for the band the butterfly nine cord.

Re:Trance is a modified version of the number Trance that was recorded for the mini album WELCOME (2014) of the band the butterfly nine cord. It can therefore also be seen as a kind of tribute. In Re:Trance the synthesizer is clearly embraced, making the track feel more saturated. The vocals are supported by autotune, but with that the strength of the voice of the long-haired singer does not come forward. But the addition of autotune fits perfectly with this track and goes well with the synthesizer.

The approach to the music video is simple: yuichi abe is in various places in the city while people and cars pass him by. He is a little indifferent: hands in the pocket of his white long blouse and he looks towards the camera. Is he waiting for someone or has he fallen into a trance? Different video effects are applied to the moving images, to give a technical and artistic effect to give the video extra power.

Re: Trance is just like his predecessor a sing-along song, but also a cheerful and here and there dreamy song. The combination of the music video where the singer and guitarist can be seen all by himself and the renewal of a track from his old band indicates that the musician shows that he has gone further, but still looks back with good feelings to past.

April in 85 onsists of singer and guitarist yuichi abe and is supported with the following support band members : bassist ayumi shiraishi (CUICUI / BAKAYARO NO HI), guitarist daisuke shimizu and drummer masanobu shimizu.
