PLASTICZOOMS was performing live in the Netherlands for the second time on Thursday 9 March. P60 in Amstelveen this time was the venue location for the band that is known for mixing different genres so that the stamp “unique” can be pasted onto the trio.
Maybe a bit too unique for many people, because while the band would originally perform in the main hall, it was finally decided to move the show of PLASTICZOOMS to the cosy Suite. This was all dressed up with a black cloth on one side so that the focus could be placed on all sides of the band and in whole it would be an intimate show.
The band has been able to prove themselves in Tokyo to be a very good live band and wants to show by performing in Europe. Weekday or not, the big music lovers will not stop to attend PLASTICZOOMS exclusive live show in the Netherlands.
The show in P60 is part of a European tour in which the band’s latest album is being promoted: PLASTICZOOMS. This album, unlike the previous releases, had problems to convince me, and that, in my opinion, had to do with the fact that the album was made to be played live. Once the show was kicked off with Frontal Attack and The Future, the atmosphere was set right. The setlist of the live show in P60 was well filled with tracks from the latest album, but also well-known older tracks such as CRACK, BUG and KMKZ. The combination of up-tempo and quiet songs is well chosen, although at the end it suddenly seemed to be very exciting, while the performance was almost at its end.
The mysterious vibe floating around the band makes the show extra fascinating, the band is mostly dressed in black and makes little contact with the audience. Singer Sho communicates the music not only through his singing, but also his hand movements that never seem to deviate per show and tries to get the crowd moving by showing some dance moves. The audience accepts everything. The band is very convincing in what they do and it’s not for nothing that the band has been successfully operating for 10 years.
