For those who follow the Facebook event of Nishicon 2018, were surprised with an interesting message: The convention has changed the dates of the forthcoming edition of Winter Wonderland. Nishicon will no longer be in the first weekend of January 2018, but in the last weekend of February 2018.
The organization of Nishicon would come with more information soon, but Erik Huizinga, chairman of Nishicon, answered a few questions of AVO.
AVO Blog: Why did you choose a new date and not immediately for this new date in February?
Erik Huizinga: When it turned out that Nishicon 2018 and TomoFair Amsterdam would be in the same weekend, we looked at whether we could do something about it. This is for our visitors, our vendors, and also for some of our event holders who are also on TomoFair Amsterdam. At first, we could not change dates, but Theaterhotel Almelo had one more option in late February, and with Tsunacon’s recent official announcement that there will be no new event, it was clear to us that February would be a better option than January 5-7. Fortunately, the new weekend also falls (partly) during a holiday period, so that’s also positive.
AVO Blog: Will those with a ticket for the old dates get their money back?
Erik Huizinga: The people who bought a ticket will receive an email from us, and the possibility to keep their ticket or cancel it.
AVO blog: Are there a few activities that you can already share with the readers?
Erik Huizinga: Event holders who also attend TomoFair Amsterdam, like GameRooms and Performous karaoke directly confirmed that they will attend Nishicon.
Nishicon will soon share more information about the upcoming edition through their website and social media. The new date is fixed on February 23rd, 24th and 25th, 2018. The location is still Theaterhotel Almelo.
