Anime Herfst 2016: 10 titels om naar uit te kijken!

Fall is approaching! And luckily every season also brings new anime series and movies. Below you’ll find a list of 10 titles we’re looking forward to, keeping to the order of the series’ air dates.

Watashi ga Motete Dousunda (Kiss Him, Not Me)

Watashi_ga_Motete_DousundaType: Anime
Studios: Brain’s Base
Genres: Comedy, Reverse Harem, Romance, School, Shoujo
Based on the eponymous manga by Junko

Starts airing: October 2016
Number of episodes: Unknown

Kae Serinuma was an overweight fujoshi, a female otaku, until her favorite anime character died and she lost weight due to the stress this caused her. When she goes back to school, after going through a period of mourning, everybody treats her differently. Four attractive boys even ask her out, but Kae would actually prefer it if the boys dated each other.

Recommended by Yuki:
Usually I’m not a big fan of harem anime, but this one intrigues me because of the setting, humor and the main characters obsession with shounen ai. I’ve also recently started reading the manga and I can’t stop reading. I can’t wait to watch this anime!

Fune Wo Amu

Fune_wo_AmuType: Anime
Studios: Zexcs
Genres: Unknown
Based on the eponymous novel by Shion Miura

Starts airing: October 2016
Number of episodes: Unknown

Mitsuya Majime is a not very successful businessman, he has more love for reading and even has several linguistic degrees. This stands out to the two dictionary makers Masashi Nishioka and Kouhei Araki, who would like to have him in their team and want his help for their plan to develop a new kind of dictionary. They are also looking for someone to replate Araki, who, due to personal circumstances, wants to start working less. Of course there’s a love story in this series.

Recommended by Anvica:
The mature character of this anime drew me in. It’s often fun to watch recognizable daily life in an anime that isn’t about school or magic. It seems like something different to have more male characters who live a normal working life. The drawingstyle also looks good to me.

Occultic;Nine

Occultic;NineType: Anime
Studios: A-1 Pictures
Genres: Sci-fi, Mystery, Paranormal
Based on the eponymous light novel by Chiyomaru Shikura.

Starts airing: October 2016
Number of episodes: Unknown

Yuuta Gamon is the owner of a blog and dreams to become rich fast. With this goal in mind he decides to work together with an eccentric group of people. Together with them he tries to unravel paranormal occurrences and find answers that might lead to big changes in the world.

Recommended by Cypher:
I always like a good mystery anime and I expect Occultist;Nice to fill my needs when it comes to mystery and the paranormal. I also look forward to the different characters and their interactions. When it comes to animation and style I have a lot of trust in A-1 Pictures, which has already worked on a few graphically impressive anime among which my two favorite titles, “Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso” and Shinsekai yori”. In both of these titles they managed to convey the mood very well in the anime and the animation was almost never a distraction from the story.

Uta no☆Prince-sama Maji LOVE Legend Star

Uta_no_Prince-sama_Maji_LOVE_Legend_StarType: Anime
Studios: A-1 Pictures
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance, Reverse Harem, Music

Starts airing: 1th of October 2016
Number of episodes: Unknown

Uta no☆Prince-sama Maji LOVE Legend Star is the fourth seasn of the Uta no☆Prince-sama series and continues where season three, Uta no☆Prince-sama Revolutions, left off. The girl in this story, Haruka Nanami, has become a songwriter and works for Shining with the boyband ST☆RISH and veteran idol group QUARTET NIGHT. Season three ended with the arrival of a new group named HE★VENS from the label Raging Entertainment – who seem to make a big impression – while there was already a competition between the first two groups who were mentioned. Who is going to open at the international sports event Triple S?

Recommended by Fran:
Uta no Prince-sama is a real guilty pleasure, this reverse harem about male idols and a girl who writes songs for these pretty young men. Everyone is impressed with the girl which the creeoy eyes, but an idol can’t be in a relationship and this creates certain tensions in the series. On top of that there are some cheesy songs, which sometimes leave you wondering if you should sing along or laugh. I can always entertain myself with UtaPri and I’m really looking forward to the next season. Clear your mind and start watching!

Gakuen Handsome

Gakkuen_HandsomeType: Anime
Studios: Unknown, through a crowdfuncing campagne money was raised to make this anime by Tohoku Penet.
Genres: Comedy, Parody, School, Shounen ai
Based on the eponymous game by Tohoku Penet

Starts airing: 4th of October 2016
Number of episodes: 12

The story takes place at the Baramon High School, a private school for boys where only the best students get to go to. Of course this school offers many possibilities when it comes to friendships, love and the matching conflict. The seventeen year old main character’s life will go through quite a few changes.

Recommended by Yuki:
This series is a parody series, which you can immediately tell from the drawing style. With this they zoom in and make fun of a lot of aspects of certain anime styles. Shounen ai and school anime get made fun of in this series. It seems to be like it’d be a fun series to watch, I hope it’ll be funny because I am not familiar with the game. The main reason for recommending this series, even though it’s a bit of a gamble, is the length of the episodes. These are only 3 minutes long, so you don’t lose a lot of time if the series wouldn’t be very good and you might ever enjoy this series a lot!

Natsume Yuujinchou Go

Natsume_Yuujin-Chou_GoType: Anime
Studios: Shuka
Genres: Drama, Fantasy, Shoujo, Slice of Life, Supernatural.
Based on the eponymous manga by Yuki Midorikawa

Starts airing: 5th of October 2016.
Number of episodes: Unknown

This is already the fifth season of the popular series with Natsume Takashi as it’s main character, who’s taken on the job of giving Youkai their names back after his grandmother Reiko took these after during bets with the youkai and collected them in a special book. The story continues where season 4 left off.

Recommended by Anvica:
Natsume Yuujinchou is a series I’ve followed since season one, I think it’s a fun anime which isn’t very stressful or super exciting but it nice to watch. The idea of youkai and creatures can be scary, but this isn’t the case in this series. You feel pretty light about it once you’ve seen another episode and this makes me want to watch new episodes every time they’re released.

Bungou Stray Dogs 2nd

Bungou_Stray_Dogs_2nd_SeasonType: Anime
Studios: Bones
Genres: Mystery, Seinen, Supernatural

Started airing: 6th of October 2016
Number of episodes: 12

This is the second season of the Bungou Stray Dogs anime.

Nakajima Atsushi has been sent away from the orphanage, now he has no food nor a place to stay. When he stands at the river side, basically staring, he sees a man who tries to commit suicide and saves him. His name is Osamu Dazai and together with his partner Kunikada he’s part of a special detective team. With their supernatural powers they solve cases that are too complex for the police or even the military. At the moment Atsushi appears in the region they are hunting a tiger, who is somehow linked to Atsushi. This could be the beginning of a very special adventure for him.

Recommended by Anvica:
The genres mystery and seinen are both subjects that I like, the stories seem a little deeper to me. I don’t know whether this is true for this anime as well, but the title alone already spoke to me enough to shine a light on this anime. The drawing style itself isn’t entirely my taste but that shouldn’t stand in the way of discovering the story. The use of the name of actor Osamu Dazai, who has tried to commit suicide in real life several times and eventually succeeded, was used was a small bonus to me.

Kubikiri Cycle: Aoiro Savant to Zaregoto Tsukai

Kubikiri_Cycle_Aoiri_Savant_to_ZaregototsukaiType: OVA
Studios: Shaft
Genres: Action, Drama, Mystery, Supernatural
Based on the Zaregoto novel series by Nisio and Take.

Starts airing: 26th of October 2016
Number of episodes: 8

The series follows the main character “I” and the murders and mysteries he encounters. He tries, but fails, to keep himself out of it, but instead he gets more and more involved. Even though he seems like someone who could do a lot, he always finds out that whatever he does doesn’t make a difference.

Recommended by Yuki:
The drawing style, as far as I can see, seems very beautiful and reminds me of Bakemonogatari. This isn’t weird since this series is being produced by the same studios. The story seems mysterious and interesting. Stories in which the main characters turn out to have very little control appeal to me, because you often get to see the psychological and social consequences of this. If the genres of this story appeal to you as well: Have fun watching!

Drifters

DriftersType: Anime
Studios: Hoods Drifters Studio
Genres: Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Seinen
Based on the eponymous manga by Kouta Hirano.

Starts airing: 7th of October 2016
Number of episodes: Unknown

Despite the fact that he manages to defeat his opponent Toyohisa Shimazu gets badly injured. While he leaves the battlefield he is suddenly transported to a strange place, a hallway full of doors. He’s sent through one of these doors and ends up in another world together with other warriors which have also been sent to this world. These people are called Drifters.

Recommended by Cypher:
Drifters promises to be an anime that isn’t afraid to get dark when it needs to, which is obvious by the amount of gore in the trailer. This whole concept works because it seems to take place around the year 1600 which is often sketched as a dark period in time. I look forward to seeing the dynamics between the several warrior. When it comes to the story it give the impression that there are multiple worlds, which gives me hope that there’ll be more depth to this series than you’d initially expect.

Kagerou Daze: In a Day’s

Kagerou_Daze_In_a_DaysType: Movie
Studios: Aniplex
Genres: Comedy, Magic, Romance, Sci-Fi, Slice of Life, Supernatural
Based on the Kagerou Daze novel series by Jun and Sidu.

Starts airing: November 2016

Shintarou Kisaragi is a NEET who has locked himself in his room for 2 years. A year ago he met a cyber girl named Ene, she appeared on his computer screen after he received an anonymous e-mail. One day, after Ene has been messing with Shintaro’s PC, he goes outside for the first time in two years.

Recommended by Yuki:
The storyline and genres of this anime seem like an interesting combination to me. Aside from that I watched the 30 seconds long promotion video and the music, drawing style, animation, use of color and the voice at the end of the video grabbed my attention. For these reasons it seems to me that this movie is worth watching!

We’re curious about these series, you too? Have a lot of fun watching!
