Meigum – Gaburichuu Fast Food – Simple
Price: ± €2
Extra supplies: Optional: Knife
With this kit you can create little candies that look like your favourite meals. There are six different moulds available and you can tell which one you got by looking through the hole in the box, you’ll see a number to identify the kind of mould. The moulds that are available are: Hamburger, Ramen, Pizza, Curry, Okonomiyaki and Hotdog. I purchased two of these kits and got the Ramen and the Okonomiyaki versions. Each kit includes four different colours of candy: pink, blue, yellow and brown. By combining these you can create an even wider array of colours. You can also create a little décor to display your candies on.
Flavour: ♥
The several colours of candy don’t taste very different from one another. They’re chewy and have a sweet yet sour flavour to them. It reminded me a bit of ramune flavour to be honest. I didn’t dislike it but the flavour wasn’t very strong either.
Time needed: ⧗
You can spend a little more time making the right colours and carefully placing them into the mould, or just use whichever colours you’d like wherever in the mould. Either way this kit doesn’t take up a lot of time.
Difficulty level: ★
This kit is pretty simple and straightforward. Just make sure you combine the right colours when trying to create a new colour. How difficult the kit is might differ per version though and how ‘perfect’ you want the end result to be. Getting the candy out of the mould without misshaping them is a little tricky, just be careful.
Similarity: ??
The end result is pretty similar to the picture on the packaging. It is hard to get the candies out neatly though, so they might misshape a little. The colours don’t combine as well as suggested on the packaging though, the colours are a bit less vibrant.
TIPS: Use a knife to cut off any access candy. If you’ve got trouble not misshaping the candies when getting them out of the mould cooling them in the fridge for a moment might help.
Want to enjoy this kit again?
Clean the mould with warm water, after using it, and let it air dry. Don’t use soap to clean the mould.
If you want to reuse the mould you could use some starbursts, after warming them slightly, or fondant if you’d like. You could also use something like modelling chocolate.
