This is not a sponsored review and because of this I won’t mention where I bought this set, if you do an online search using the name of this kit you’ll be able to find this one in several webshops.
Heart – Oryouri Ton Ton Gummy 2 – Simple
Price: ± €6 for one of them
Extra supplies: Water, Scissors, Spoon, Refrigerator, Microwave*, Heatproof Bowl or Cup
* Instead of melting the gelatine in the microwave you could heat it au bain-marie, with a heatproof glass bowl on top of a pan with a small layer of boiling water. Stir gently until all of the gelatine has melted.
These kits are a newer version of one I’ve reviewed before, which you can find here. With these two kits you create cute little gummy foods. Kit A includes a fish, a carrot and a piece of cake. Kit B includes a steak, a cabbage and a pudding. In the previous version both kits included a carrot and consisted of five gummies instead of three, but the gummies in this version were a lot bigger than those in the previous version. These sets are sold separately.
Flavour: ♥
Just like in the last version the red gummies are supposed to taste like peach and the green gummies like melon. This time however, unlike last time, I could smell peach when I made the red gummy mixture and I thought I smelled green apple when making the green gummy mixture. The flavours were stronger than in the last version and matched the smells. The combination of the two mainly tasted like peach.
Time needed: ⧗
Most of the time you’ll spend on these kits is waiting time, for them to set. Making them and cutting them up costs barely any time at all.
Difficulty level: ★
These kits are very easy to make, there isn’t much you can do wrong and they’re very easy to chop up as well. Removing them from the moulds is easy, as long as you make sure to be gentle with the more fragile parts.
Similarity: ???
As you can see on the pictures below, the final product looks very similar to the packaging. There’s a slight difference because the picture on the packaging is a drawing, but it’s clear they’re looking the way they should.
TIPS: Use a spoon to fill the mould, don’t pour it in directly from the bowl or cup you’re using or it’ll easily overflow.
If you let it sit on your work surface for a few minutes before refrigerating they’ll be a little less fluid already and it’ll be easier to place in the refrigerator without spilling.
Want to enjoy these kits again?
Clean the mould with warm water, after using it, and let it air dry. Don’t use soap to clean the mould.
If you want to reuse the mould you could make your own gummies or use a jelly package and add a lot less water than the instructions say. You can use food colouring to get the right colours, or to create different colours than this kit has.
