After several successful editions in London, Visual-kei Night has also been organised in other countries, such as Poland and France. On 1 October, Visual-kei Night will return to Paris for the second time for an edition featuring a special performance by D=OUT vocalist Kouki.
After Kouki’s performance, featuring a setlist of D=OUT’s greatest hits and covers of legendary visual kei classics, two DJs will continue to warm up the dance floor with visual kei tunes, provided by DJ and organiser Kaoru and guest DJ Takeshi (from Esprit D’Air). The theme of the evening is ‘Japanesque’, so according to the organisers, you can expect a selection of wafuu visual kei songs to dance to until the early hours.
This year, the visual kei band celebrates their 18th anniversary. During that time, the rock band has developed a recognisable sound, blending influences from traditional Japanese music and kayou with rock. More than 15 years ago, Kouki toured Europe with D=OUT, but in 2023, he was back in Europe as a solo artist with his performance in Spain, where he shared the stage with HIKAZI from Jupiter.
In addition to his work as a vocalist and lyricist in D=OUT, Kouki is also active under his solo name Onigashima and as enka/kayou vocalist Kouki Hanamizakura, where he is also a member of the visual kei enka group Sakura Zensen. On 1 August, D=OUT released the single 愛-aikagi-鍵 uit.
The event will take place at Backstage By The Mill and is organised by Visual-kei Night Events and D.Y Prod. Ticket sales have recently begun and consist of regular tickets and a VIP upgrade, which allows you to enter earlier, followed by a meet and greet with Kouki, a 2-shot cheki (a Polaroid photo) with Kouki, and an autograph from the visual kei musician. To get VIP access, you must purchase a regular ticket with a VIP upgrade.
