After an energetic show at Switzerland’s GAMMACO in 2023, visual kei band GERTENA will return to Europe this year for more performances. This year they won’t be visiting for a convention, but they will instead be heading on a headlining mini-tour named the COUNTDOWN TO GERTENA EUROPE TOUR. For their second visit to Europe, they will return to Switzerland with a show in Aarau, and they will also be performing in Germany for the first time with a show in Munich.
In the two years since their last European performance, the band has released several singles like: RAISON D’ETRE at the end of 2023, IMMORAL QUEEN and CRAZY PARTY in 2024, and the single from earlier this year, BREAKER. A track that is a bit reminiscent of their single RADIANT, with the mix between visual kei screamo, energetic vocals with upbeat drum rhythm and an electrifying melodic rhythm on guitar.
On the 22nd of July, they released their new single KARMA featuring a brighter music video aesthetic, featuring a multitude of red strings decorated with small pieces of white papers and kanji on them. To accompany the brighter look of the video, the band also adopted a new visual style, opting for a simpler outfit consisting of black pants and white dress shirts decorated with ink splats. The look for the band also provided Guitarist Youth-K-End with a good moment to change their artistic name to Yuh.
Aside from Yuh’s name change, there have also been some changes to the line-up of the band with the departure of drummer Nao and supporting bass player Kasumi, and to fill this void, the band welcomed two new members: supporting drummer Tatsushi and full-time member Toyo on bass guitar.
