It has been three years since Matsumoto Zoku evolved from a duo to a full-fledged band called Matsumoto Zoku Band, meaning it was time for the members to record a new album. They went to Amsterdam for that, and after the recording is completed, the four musicians will travel to Italy for a six-day tour. The musicians will be livestreaming to talk about the new steps for Matsumoto Zoku Band, just before the tour will start, on 27 February. The tour in Italy will start a day later, on the 28th of February.

A small insight of what will be discussed during the stream has already be given on the Instagram account of Matsumoto Zoku Band, they will be talking about their plans of touring Europe and the rest of the world, but also a tour documentary has been in the works.

Originally started as a duo in 2013, this band has since transformed into a quartet in 2022, consisting of Reo Matsumoto (handpan, beatbox and percussion), Koji Matsumoto (handpan, didgeridoo), guitarist Kenta Hayashi and bassist Nory. The Matsumoto Zoku Band can be best described as an organic instrumental quartet that performs dance music with a psychedelic slant, moving between musical genres such as dance, psytrance, hip-hop, rock, funk and ambient.

Since their formation, they have been performing all over the world, including seven performances at the Hungarian O.Z.O.R.A. Festival, making them resident artists. Individually, the band members all have a lot of experience as musicians in other music projects, which they put back into the music of the Matsumoto Zoku Band, precisely inspiring people with the various approaches and instruments they bring with them. To date, the band has released several albums while still active as a duo, including Matsumoto Zoku and Matsumoto Zoku II and an EP titled Ho-High. Soon a new album can be added to Matsumoto Zoku Band’s discography.
