Haru Nemuri brought her Shunka Ryougen tour to the United Kingdom and Ireland from May 25 – June 7, 2023. Before it began this tour was already heavily affected by unfortunate circumstances. She explains on social media that the tour manager cancelled their duties in the immediate days before departing Japan, leaving it up to Nemuri to rent a car, amps and equipment for the tour upon arrival to the United Kingdom. Illness would also later lead to multiple cancellations after an already stressful beginning to the tour. However, she was able to deliver this impressive performance to a sold-out crowd at Oslo Hackney in London on May 30.
By the midpoint of the set after songs like kick in the world, 春雷 (Shunrai) & 鳴らして (Narashite) it’s clear to see that she puts the entirety of herself into the performance. She displays a full range of motion and emotion – going from harsh, guttural vocals to agitated poetry, singing, screaming & crowd surfing throughout. Later she addresses the crowd, explaining the difficult situation so far with the tour. She mentions feeling undeserving to be here, to which they vocalise their support and continue to loudly sing along. The night ends on a note of gratitude with 生きる (Ikiru) which she explains means ‘to live’. Hopefully her future ventures will be as successful as this show was.
