It has been a while since the four-member band CHAI toured on European soil, if the information is correct, it has been four years ago. But there is good news, the ‘neo-kawaii’ band has revealed that they will be returning to Europe for a tour coming November. They will be promoting their newest album, a self-titled one, which they wrote and recorded on the road between shows while touring the United States and Mexico. The album is scheduled to be released on 22 September. The European tour follows up the North America tour, that is scheduled to take place in September and October.

The quartet is composed of identical twins Mana (vocals, keyboard) and Kana(guitar), bassist and lyricist Yuuki and drummer Yuna. They have been active since 2012, but in 2017 they gained momentum in terms of popularity with an appearance at SXSW, followed up with a series of shows in the United States and the release of their first album PINK. In the meantime, they have released several albums, titled PUNK in 2019 and WINK, in 2021. Every album they have released takes aesthetic elements from specific musical movements, and on the upcoming album CHAI, the quartet aimed to draw direct parallels to city pop, a Tokyo sound that became popular in the 1970s and 1980s.
