It is not unknown that the four members of Maximum The Hormone were having plans to come to Europe. Back in 2019, it was announced that the metal band would perform at Hellfest, but due to the pandemic, this was, in the end, impossible and the plan remained on the shelves.
And now in 2022, the band is finally confirmed to be coming to Europe. A show at Hellfest was already certain, but a European tour with a number of extra dates will be directly linked to it, which might have been a surprise for many fans of the Japanese band.
It is the first time in 11 years that they will perform in Europe and the first time in five years that they will perform outside of Japan. The band stated that they can’t wait to see all the “HARAPEKOs” – the nickname given to this band’s fans – in Europe. The metal band will begin their five-date European tour on the 10th of June, with shows in Paris, Barcelona, Cologne, London and ending at Hellfest.
The four-piece metal band Maximum the Hormone started activities in 1999. The band is known for their unconventional and experimental style as they like to incorporate many elements of music genres from hardcore punk to pop and everything in between. As can be read on their own homepage, the lyrics written by vocalist and guitarist MAXIMUM THE RYOKUN may seem meaningless, but an enormous amount of metaphors and sarcasm are put into them, and altogether these used words are placed in such a way to make the songs rhythmic and catchy.
The four-piece has toured Europe several times, in 2008 and 2011. During their last European tour, they also performed at Hellfest. With a career like Maximum the Hormone has, it is of course understandable that the discography is huge with a handful of albums, many more singles and DVDs.
