The German convention Connichi will not take place in 2021. After deciding to skip 2020 for their event due to the pandemic and the regulations of the German government, they disclosed that they would focus on an edition in 2021. But the organisation shared an announcement earlier today saying that due to the highly dynamic infection process of COVID-19, that they are cancelling Connichi 2021.
They state: “In this way, we take our social responsibility seriously and do our part to ensure that meetings of all kinds become possible again as soon as possible. Stay healthy and stick together!” The organisation shared four reasons why they have decided to cancel the 2021 edition of Connichi, which they described with the following four keywords: responsibility, planability, financing and future perspective. An extensive explanation can be found on the official website of Connichi (in German).
The planning for Connichi 2022 has already begun and they will soon share more information about the activities and guests that they will invite. The organisation is also looking to an option to hold another edition of Connichi Online.
For those who had kept their ticket for the 2021 edition, they will be able to cancel their tickets or choose to donate their ticket (or a part of it) in the coming two weeks. The cancellation of the tickets will be done free of charge and without a fee.
Connichi is an annual, 3-day anime convention in Germany and one of the largest of its kind in the German-speaking world. In 2019, they invited FLOW for a concert on Saturday evening, making it their second performance in Europe.
