Good news for the musicians and the music lovers worldwide, because Bandcamp just announced that they have decided to continue doing Bandcamp Fridays in 2021.
Bandcamp explained on their website: “Although vaccines are starting to roll out, it will likely be several months before live performance revenue starts to return. So we’re going to continue doing Bandcamp Fridays in 2021.”
Bandcamp Fridays in 2021 are planned for:
5 February, 2021
5 March, 2021
2 April , 2021
7 May, 2021
In March 2020, Bandcamp started their Bandcamp Fridays where they help artists impacted by the pandemic by waiving the revenue shares to support the musicians and labels. After extending it through the summer and later on also the rest of the year, many people were looking out for the first Friday of the month to support the musicians. Over the course of these nine days, fans paid artists and labels $40 million dollars which helped the artists and labels in paying bills, groceries and more. According to Bandcamp, almost 800,000 music fans helped out by participating during Bandcamp Fridays in 2020.
On Bandcamp Fridays, an average of 93% of your money reaches the artist/label (after payment processor fees). On other days, an average of 82% reaches the artist/label.
