The upcoming edition of Shimane Jett Fes, organised by the leader of rock’n’roll band Guitar Wolf, Seiji, will be taking place online this year. The event, with Yamato no Orochi Rising as theme title, will take place on Saturday 26 September.
Just like last year, a crowdfunding campaign took place to make this festival happening. The following was written about the crowdfunding of this year on the website of Shimane Jett Fes: “Music is in dire straits amid COVID-19. But especially times like this, Guitar Wolf wants to energise the world with the power of rock’n’roll.” The rock festival has been organised by Seiji since 2017. This time again, the crowdfunding campaign, that ended on the 27th of August, was successful.
Seiji shared a message for those who were interested to join the crowdfunding project: “In the midst of the world pandemic, I can’t stop thinking about ways to keep this festival going. Especially now, when music, bands, live music venues and festivals are in dire straits. One thing I’m proud of is my history of touring the world for the past 25+ years. This gave me an idea of getting together all my favourite bands from all over the world, at my virtual web festival this year. It could be one mess of a festival, but hey, that is what I’ve been after all my life.”
The festival will be free to watch worldwide, from 10.00 AM Japanese time (03.00 AM in The Netherlands) to 17.00 PM, with more than 40 bands performing. In addition to Guitar Wolf, other bands as Joan Jett & Black Hearts, KING BROTHERS, Peelander-Z, THE LET’S GO’S, The Neatbeats, WHATEVERGLADES, and many more will perform at this virtual festival. Shimane Jett Fes 2020 can be viewed on the YouTube channel of DOMMUNE.
