Black Thunder (ブラックサンダー) is a chocolate bar made by Yuraku Confectionery Company, their main advertising slogan translates to “Delicious taste in a flash of lightning!”. The chocolate bar contains a cocoa-flavoured cookie bar mixed with Japanese-style rice puffs, coated with chocolate. In this product review, three variations of the Black Thunder chocolate bars get tested for the taste.
Yuraku – Black Thunder
Price: ±€0,50 per bar
I’ve had this chocolate bar quite a few times, as it was often included as a free extra snack or I was looking for something cheap but tasty to add to an order. When I first tried it I was unsure what to expect, it is quite different from other candy bars I’ve tried in the past.
The chocolate bar consists of a crunchy biscuit, puffed rice and milk chocolate. It all goes together really well and personally I like these chocolate bars. None of the flavours overpowers the others.
Yuraku – Black Thunder Coffee
Price: ±€0,50 per bar
A different variety of the black thunder bar, one with a coffee flavour added into the mix. The other components are still the same.
This chocolate bar had a strong coffee smell and a strong coffee flavour as well. I personally don’t love coffee, but I didn’t dislike this chocolate bar either. If you love strong coffee I can imagine you’d like this chocolate bar as well.
Yuraku – Big Thunder
Price: ±€0,80 per bar
This one is very different from the chocolate bars above. It consisted of a thin dark chocolate cookie covered in a very even thin layer of milk chocolate. I loved the flavour of this one, the cookie reminded me a bit of Oreos. It was crumbly, but not dry at all.
These chocolate bars all had their own flavour to them and all have something different to offer. Which one would you try?
