To celebrate the 9th anniversary of THE TOMBOYS, the happy rock and roll band performed at Kobe VARIT., their home base, for a birthday performance. The four-piece made sure the performance was recorded on film and shared it earlier today for those who missed the anniversary show.

At the end of the video, THE TOMBOYS shared a special message for those who are waiting for the return of the band in their country. Talking about returning, the band toured the United Kingdom several times, but in 2018, they decided to tour through mainland Europe with performances in France, Italy and Germany.

In March 2020, the band was scheduled to perform at SXSW 2020 in Austin, Texas in the United States, but as many of us know, the event got cancelled for the first time in their 34-year history due to the pandemic. Currently, they are performing once a month at Kobe VARIT.

The video consists of more than 20 minutes of the four girls performing songs as Please Remember Me, Where are you going? and RUN, among other happy rock and roll songs. Some of the songs have English subtitles whenever the lyrics are in Japanese. And of course, the Theme of THE TOMBOYS is also part of the video.

THE TOMBOYS consists of GG Wakana, Madoka, Hina and Non. The band started out as a SCANDAL cover band in 2011 when the girls were 14 years old, at the time the band was called NoName and participated in the annual SCANDAL cover band contest. Eventually, they decided to make their own original music and to continue as THE TOMBOYS. Their second and third album was produced by Glenn Matlock of the Sex Pistols. During their first overseas show, they have shared the bill with Glen Matlock himself. At the moment, they have released five albums, the latest entitled NOW’N’RUN was released in the summer of 2019.

Happy birthday to THE TOMBOYS!
