The Belgian gallery IBASHO will open a new exhibition with the title Wabi Sabi. According to the gallery, it is an invitation to explore the elements of wabi sabi in the photographic works of 9 Japanese artists and 3 non-Japanese artists: Mika Horie, Keiichi Ito, Miho Kajioka, Kobayashi Nobuyuki, Naohiro Ninomiya, Naoyuki Ogino, Norio Takasugi, Motohiro Takeda, Akiko Takizawa, Albarrán Cabrera, Casper Faassen and Margaret Lansink.
Wabi sabi as an aesthetic concept is generally described as a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete. A beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional.
Since wabi sabi is closely connected to the tea ceremony (chado), IBASHO has included 2 Japanese ceramic artists, who not only have made matcha bowls but also vases: Shingo Ohira and Naoko Sano.
The exhibition will be open on 11 June and 12 June for visitors from 14.00 to 18.00 (without an appointment), but will also present a virtual opening. On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June it is possible to visit the exhibition, but then you need to reserve a time slot. There is also a limit of visitors the gallery can accept, up to 7 persons. The exhibition will be open for a visit until the end of August, Sunday 30 August.
