More and more news gets shared about the upcoming Summer, especially if we focus on the festival season. With several festivals being cancelled and postponed where Japanese musicians were supposed to perform at, we can add another one as Wacken Open Air announced the cancellation of the 2020 edition. It is the first time in the 30-year history of Wacken Open Air that the festival got cancelled.
The decision to cancel the big festival, has to do with the decision that the German government made to ban mass gatherings until the end of August of this year. Wacken Open Air was planned for the end of July and was sold out within 24 hours. What the organisation is planning for the 2021 and what options there are for those who purchased the tickets is unknown for now, but Wacken Open Air will contact the ticket buyers soon after sorting things out. Wacken Open Air can be added to many bigger and smaller European festivals being cancelled or postponed due to the current situation of COVID-19, such as Hellfest, Roskilde Festival, Download Festival UK and more.
Japanese heavy metal band LOUDNESS saw their April tour through Europe being cancelled, although the positive note is that they are working towards new dates at a later time. And it seems that they will tour next year at the same time as they would tour this year, seeing some of the venues confirmed this. Fans of the metal band noticed that they still had a European show planned for the Summer, at Wacken Open Air. This performance can also be crossed out. Let’s hope for the best for next year.
