Psychedelic rockers Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. were supposed to tour through North America in April and May, but had to cancel the tour due to the current situation around COVID-19. A situation many bands have been dealing with lately, the cancellations and postponements are now turned into digital communications such as online streams.
Acid Mothers Temple also thought of bringing some joy to the fans inside and outside Japan with uploading their entire catalogue to their YouTube Channel “as a gift during this crazy time”. The group started a few weeks ago with uploading parts of their discography and is far from finished, as the collective has released quite a bit of music since the start of it in 1995. Currently their latest upload is Born To Be Wild In The U.S.A. 2000, a live recording of performances in Seattle, Chicago and Philadelphia released a couple of years later on CD.
Some video’s that the collective has uploaded are live performances or even documentary-style videos of the group in action, some releases fall under the other forms of the Acid Mothers Temple collective, such as Acid Mothers Temple & The Cosmic Inferno and Acid Mothers Temple SWR, the abbreviation stands for Stone, Woman and Record. As a result, we all have hours and hours counting up to days of psychedelic enjoyment for free, although for a limited time.
The collective stated in a special message on their website about the decision to upload their catalogue on their YouTube channel: “As a small gift to everyone currently in isolation, for the duration of the pandemic, we have decided to upload all of our previous releases to YouTube. In the current circumstances, it is sadly impossible for us to bring our music to our fans live, but we hope you will get some solace and enjoyment from it on the internet instead. Who knows where the world goes from now, but for now we offer a prayer that our music, even in a small way, may help to counter the globally rising tide of anxiety.” Currently the YouTube channel of Acid Mothers Temple has not reached the 1000 subscribers.
Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. will probably be back in North America in 2021, as can be read in their latest message on their website. The plan is to return around February and March of next year.
