The organisation behind Abunai! has announced that they have to postpone the 2020 edition, with the theme The Good, The Bad and the Cheeky, to next year. The Dutch government extended the measures to ban large-scaled events until the first of September. The convention was planned for the last weekend of August, making it impossible to go ahead.
The new planned date of the 18th edition of the Abunai! convention is the last weekend of August 2021, from 27 through 29 August 2021.
The organisation shared a message: “We do not regret trying until the end. We had hoped our convention would be something to look forward to in these trying times. Alas, it was not to be. This was not the happiness we desired for you.”
For those who had purchased a ticket, they are able to cancel the ticket or choose to use it for the new date, as they will automatically be valid for the 2021 edition. More information can be found on the website of Abunai!.
The organisation ended their announcement on a positive, but emotional note: “There is hope. We will meet again. We will continue our hard work to organise a convention worthy of your grace and hope to continue to inform you of our 2021 convention’s programming in the following months.”
All changes of Japan-related events and events where Japanese musicians are planned to perform are compiled in a list that you can find here. This list will be regularly updated.
