Popin Cookin – Sweet Party Desserts – Elaborate
Price: ± €4
Extra supplies: Microwave, Water, Scissors, Optional: Cocktail Pick.
Most of the Popin Cookin kits have English instructions, which you can find here.
With this kit, you create some adorable miniature desserts. It includes two biscuits to decorate and powders to create cakes, a pudding and yummy decorations for the desserts. You can use some of the wrappings as a ‘plate’, there are also several pictures showing some decorating varieties.
Flavour: ♥♥
I definitely liked most of the flavours in this kit. There were several kinds of gummies in this kit, strawberry, orange and blueberry ones. The strawberry gummies tasted the same as the ones from previous Popin Cookin candy kits, like artificial strawberry flavoured gummies. The oranges were the same as in previous kits as well and tasted like orange. The blueberries had the same texture as the strawberries and oranges, gummies but not super firm. They tasted like artificial blueberry flavour and I thought they were a nice addition to the other fruit gummies.
The cake was a bit dry, but it was pretty fluffy. It didn’t have a lot of flavour to it. The cream tasted more like custard cream than whipped cream, it added some vanilla flavour to the desserts and some sweetness as well. The biscuits had a nice crunch to them, even after I left the cream on there for quite a while and tasted like you’d expect, sort of like a digestive biscuit.
I think the pudding was supposed to be melon flavoured, I didn’t recognize the flavour instantly but once I knew what it was supposed to be I did. I don’t often eat melon, so that made it harder to identify. The pudding was not very firm, but firm enough to hold its shape.
Time needed: ⧗⧗
This kit has quite a few steps so it does take a little bit of time, but you don’t have any waiting time.
Difficulty level: ★★
Although the individual steps aren’t super hard, this kit does have a lot of steps. You need to take your time to assemble the desserts.
Similarity: 📷📷
Although my desserts aren’t as picture-perfect, the final result does look pretty similar to the packaging.
TIP: Use a cocktail pick to place the gummies correctly and smooth out the cream.
Want to enjoy this kit again?
Clean the mould with warm water, after using it, and let it air dry. Don’t use soap to clean the mould.
If you want to reuse the moulds you could create more gummies or whatever you’d like, like candies, fondant or even chocolate. Make sure you let the chocolate cool a little bit before pouring it into the moulds, since these are thin plastic moulds.
