MV Review: FAKY – GIRLS GOTTA LIVE

Girl group FAKY released a new music video with the title GIRLS GOTTA LIVE, part of the dance song trilogy based on the theme GIRLS POWER.

The video is filled with bright neon-like colours, where the girls are popping off the screen thanks to their bright pink clothing while dancing in front of a blue and green background.

The danceable pop song with a twist of 90s R&B does start like a Saturday afternoon, when you are preparing for a fun night out (with friends). After 50 minutes the tempo goes up with a catchy refrain. Meanwhile, all the members of FAKY are showing off their confidence through their dance moves, energetic and sexy. After listening to GIRLS GOTTA LIVE you are completely pumped up and ready to make it a beautiful day or evening. The song should give a smile on the face.

The song GIRLS GOTTA LIVE is a combination of Japanese and English and is co-written by FAKY group members Akina & Lil’ Fang, Noonie Bao, Thomas Troelsen and Adam Pallin. Noonie Bao has written songs for Katie Perry, Avicii and David Guetta, to name a few. Thomas Troelsen has produced songs for Justin Bieber, Afrojack and SHINee and Adam Pallin is most notable as being the producer and half of the pop duo Little Jackie. It immediately indicates the song feels polished. With the addition of the music video, it feels like a complete package, with aesthetically pleasing imagery.

Since the group formed in 2013, their YouTube videos have reached over 7 million views from fans in over 120 countries. The members of FAKY are from diverse backgrounds but have come together in Tokyo to make not just Japanese Pop music, but a broad musicality combined with a mainstream sound. Five personalities giving you alternative girl pop from Tokyo.

With the release of GIRLS GOTTA LIVE, it is a new start of FAKY after the departure of Anna last December. In the video, you get introduced two members, namely Hina and Taki.

Apart from the addition of the band logo and the song title placed, the background is completely black. In the centre of the image, two robotic hands are shown and in the middle of these hands a coin with an eye on it is placed. This is surrounded by a sort of halo and green smoke.

This is a digital painting of the avatar of Vocaloid producer and songwriter Kikuo with colourful and flowing long hair and two red horns. The painting shows Kikuo in a movement where he moves his arms, making it look that he has several arms. The avatar seems to be mysterious with a quiet but expressive look. This painting has been used for the Kikuo World Tour 2024 – 2025 “Kikuoland-Go-Round” promotion.
