Not all the good music comes from Tokyo, all the way from Osaka comes singer-songwriter KITANO REM to bring you melancholy from the heart. Armed with her acoustic guitar and her voice with a large reach, she is making a good impression in the indie scene in Osaka. Her newest music video, Rolling Sky, is one of the tracks on her newest double-A single telephone/Rolling sky.
The video starts with KITANO REM in the toilet while she is throwing up and eating up the marbles, fake eyes and a couple of other small items that were put in a toilet bowl. It is almost art-like. It directly gives a disturbing view of a girl who at first gives you the idea that she has a cute image, just like the idols in the Japanese pop scene, but KITANO REM is just the opposite of it and sings an intimate song about the dark clouds above your head. In this video, KITANO REM got supported by a few musicians with animal heads on it, the elephant is Hiroki Abe from The Stone That Burns, the rabbit is Kenta Maeda from marvel in vain and Robot Meet Robot and the owl is Kazuhiro Masuda from marvel in vain.
The video is filmed in a few a few rooms, one decorated, the toilet room with a red glow and another one that seems like it is part of a construction site. The last room seems the room where the singer-songwriter seems to be struggling as the room is empty and she ends up being covered with a tarp by the masked musicians. A decorated room gives directly another atmosphere, giving more rest to the singer-songwriter as she gets supported by the musicians.
The music video, that is 3 minutes and 33 seconds long, gives KITANO REM the chance to show the viewer her powerful and versatile voice in an intriguing song where the structure of the song starts quietly and gets more and more power through the extra instruments that are added later on in the song.
