October had just begun and soon a lot of new Visual Kei songs flying around everywhere. ALEVAS has released their new music video in Faith via Starwave Records.
ALEVAS is a progressive metal band formed in 2016 by guitarist Sakaki, vocalist Kengo and bassist Yuu. Later (now former) drummer TOMO was added to the band lineup. After their debut album, Greed or White Lilly was released on 9 January 2018, the new single has now been released, in Faith, which has been on sale since 10 October.
The song starts with a nice bass line, which has a bit of a horror atmosphere around it. Once the bass intro is finished, the drums will come and vocalist Kengo starts singing. The song itself starts quietly, but soon a faster rhythm comes in, and the progressive guitar work begins to come. After the first chorus it starts to sound a bit monotonous, which you might not expect is the grunts that pass quickly, but after that, it sounds like the beginning of the song. Until the moment the guitar comes solo, which turns the song back in a different direction. Unfortunately, after the solo, it is like the rest of the song.
The song itself is in what looks like a gothic-like atmosphere, completely finished with the dark lighting and the costumes of the band members. What is different here is the singer, who is the only one wearing a red cardigan. What I miss in the clip itself is some action, some movement, waiting for something to happen, but unfortunately, it does not work out. The members stay around their place and play their instrument, which in my opinion looks somewhat less passionate.
In short, the song is quite catchy, but remains very much the same. Yet I think that this band has potential to make better.
