Popin Cookin – Naan Curry – Elaborate
Price: ± €4
Extra supplies: Microwave, Plate, Glass, Water, Scissors.
Most of the Popin Cookin kits have English instructions, which you can find here.
With this kit you create curry, two naan breads, two nuggets and a gelatine pudding. The naan bread is shaped like elephants. This is a new version, there used to be a simpler curry rice Popin Cookin kit.
Flavour: ♥
This kit has a lot of flavours, but the flavours of the nuggets, naan and curry do fit together. The pudding clearly had its own flavour and tasted like ramune, this was actually the only part of the kit I liked the flavour of.
The naan elephants had very little flavour to them, but I think they were meant to be dipped in the curry more than eaten separately. The nuggets were dry on the outside and a bit mushy on the inside, I tasted a little bit of curry flavour and a little bit of chicken broth flavour, but they didn’t taste like chicken nuggets. The curry clearly smelled like curry, but had a bit of a gravy smell to it as well. I didn’t love the flavour of it.
To be honest I am generally not a fan of savoury candy kits.
Time needed: ⧗
This kit doesn’t take a lot of time. You have to wait for the pudding to set for ten minutes, but aside from that all the steps are very quick.
Difficulty level: ★
Despite the amount of parts to this kit it is still fairly easy to do. The steps don’t take a lot of time and were very simple.
Similarity: ??
As you can see on the pictures the final result doesn’t entirely look the same as the image on the packaging, but that is probably in part because something went wrong with my pudding. Aside from that you don’t have the same plates and saucers available as you see on the packaging and the result looks a little less perfect than on the packaging.
Want to enjoy this kit again?
Clean the mould with warm water, after using it, and let it air dry.
If you want to reuse the mould you could make chocolate elephants, or even pancakes for example. You could put pudding in the pudding mould, but you could also use chocolate, marzipan or kneadable candies. There aren’t a lot of restrictions to these moulds, just make sure whatever you put in them isn’t too hot, otherwise the plastic might melt.
