Product Review: Heart – Chocolade Puzzels Konijn en Kat

Photographs by MuchMunchies

This is not a sponsored review and because of this I won’t mention where I bought this set, if you do an online search using the name of this kit you’ll be able to find this one in several webshops.

Heart – Chocolate Puzzles Bunny & Cat – Simple
Price: ± €6 for one of them
Extra supplies: Scissors, Spoon, Refrigerator, Microwave*, Heatproof Bowl or Cup, Optional: Piping bag or Sandwich bag
* Instead of melting the chocolate in the microwave I decided to heat it au bain-marie, with a heatproof glass bowl on top of a pan with a small layer of boiling water. I stirred until all of the chocolate had melted.

With these two kits you create two cute chocolate puzzles, a bunny and a kitty. Both versions also include some accessories, the kitty version includes a ring and nail polish and the bunny one also has a cupcake and an ice-cream cone. The sets are sold separately and are the new versions of these sets. Placing the pink chocolate balls takes the most time, but even this only takes a few minutes. Melting the chocolate takes barely any time, after this you will have to wait one hour for your chocolate to harden in the fridge and then you can start puzzling.

I really like that the themes of the previous versions have been used for these as well. Last time there was a doggy with a crown and a castle and a bunny with a table with a cupcake, donuts and a drink on it. Unfortunately with the old sets most of the theme was represented in the images you put the chocolate puzzles on. The new set with the kitty focusses on luxury, so there’s a pretty ring and nail polish and the new set with the bunny takes place at a café with a cupcake and an ice cream cone.

The kits are very easy to make and the puzzles themselves are very simple as well. The style of these puzzles is a little different from the previous versions, but they are definitely cute too. The accessories that you are able to make with these kits as well add a nice new element. Just like the last kits I enjoyed making these, they’re very simple but cute.

The final product doesn’t look bad at all, although I didn’t think all the colours fit very well, like the yellow ears on the cat. Luckily there was plenty of chocolate for me to make the ears brown and the bow yellow. Both kits look like you’d expect when you look at the packaging.

As far as I can remember all the parts tasted the same as in the last versions of these kits, but I can’t say this with a hundred percent certainty. In any case they tasted very nice again. The milk chocolate tasted nice, but a little less strong than I’m used to. The banana flavour of the yellow chocolate was very tasty and the pink chocolate balls reminded me of M&Ms or Smarties again, delicious!

TIPS: If you’re using a spoon to fill the mould you have to put the mould in the refrigerator for 10 minutes and then scrape off the chocolate that went outside the edges of the mould. If you use a piping bag or sandwich bag instead it’s easier to keep the chocolate from going over the edge.

Make sure you don’t overfill the mould, shake it back and forth carefully on your work surface to spread it well.

Want to enjoy these kits again?

Clean the mould with warm water, after using it, and let it air dry. Don’t use soap to clean the mould.

If you want to reuse the mould you could use any kind of chocolate you’d like. Each set contains 25 grams of milk chocolate and 10 grams of yellow chocolate, this is what you’ll need for one chocolate puzzle. You could leave out the pink chocolate balls or replace them with sugar pearls. I did have some left, but not enough to fill the moulds again.
