Recently I purchased a few Japanese Candy kits and I will review all of these for AVO. This is not a sponsored review and because of this I won’t mention where I bought this set, if you do an online search using the name of this kit you’ll be able to find this one in several webshops.
Heart – Shin-Chan Butt Pudding – Simple
Price: ± €5
Extra supplies: Milk, Scissors, Spoon, Refrigerator, Microwave*, Heatproof Bowl or Cup
* Instead of heating the mixture in the microwave I decided to heat it au bain-marie, with a heatproof glass bowl on top of a pan with a small layer of boiling water. I stirred until all of the powder was dissolved and then took the bowl off of the pan, wiped the bottom dry with a kitchen towel and poured the mixture back in the cup to be able to put it in the mould.
With this kit you create three cute, and also funny, Shin-Chan puddings, there are two versions of this kit. With this set you mainly have quite a bit of waiting time, making this set takes around 10 minutes, max. The instructions say to put the pudding in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 hours, I waited about 3 hours before taking them out.
This kit is very easy to make, but if you like Shin-Chan then it’s definitely worth the effort. You can see ahead of time what shapes your puddings will be.
The final product looks cute, do make sure to mix everything well and check whether the powder is fully dissolved. As you can see in the picture it looks similar to the pictures on the packaging, with the exception that the final product isn’t drawn. The mould helps you get a good result.
The pink sauce tasted a little sour, but still a bit sweet and it had a hint of strawberry flavour. The puddings tasted like vanilla and a little bit like custard. Both had a creamy texture.
TIPS: Use a spoon to put the pudding mix in the mould. Once it’s almost full you should put it in the refrigerator and then fill the rest of the mould. This way you prevent spilling any of the mixture out of the mould when you put it in the refrigerator.
Add the milk bit by bit to the egg white mixture, to prevent lumps.
You can pick whatever kind of milk you’d like, I used lactose free milk for instance. Even water would probably work, but then the result would be less tasty.
Want to enjoy this kit again?
Clean the mould with warm water, after using it, and let it air dry. Don’t use soap when cleaning this mould.
If you want to reuse the mould you can put some pudding mix in it. You could replace the pink sauce with yoghurt or whipped cream with some strawberry juice or strawberry jam mixed through it.
