さよならパリス (Sayonara Paris) have undergone several line-up changes since its inception in 2010, but now it is equally stable with two band members; Tomoya and Kitano. In August the band released their first full-length album: I LOVE YOU TILL I DIE consisting of 19 tracks in the genres punk, hardcore, rock and alternative. One of the tracks is NO NO NO which was released last month as a music video.
In the beginning, the video gives the idea that you are watching some kind of horror movie a la Blair Witch Project in which a girl simply steps into a dark space without thinking. Is this really a music video?
The video takes almost 7 minutes and starts with an introduction where you get to know what the story of the music video is going to be. ‘Nanana’ (Nana Nanami) can be seen as a vlogger willing to do something dangerous, the words abunai (dangerous), akuma (devil) and kowai (scary) are used in the introduction about the location. The atmosphere is set! She shows the surroundings to the audience and discusses where she is. It must be clear that it is dark and that she is in a place she has never been before; the factory site ‘White Hills’.
It takes more than 3 minutes before the vlogger goes inside, but then there is still no sign of the music video. It is therefore almost to be expected that the song only comes in at the end of the music video, but that a storyline was needed to give the short song – which lasts just under a minute – a basis. NO NO NO is not a creepy song at all, but a typical punk song that really comes into its own in the video. The two band members of Sayonara Paris show themselves to scare ‘Nanana’. The video was recorded with only an iPhone 6S to give an authentic feeling to the video, which should serve as a vlog.
There is also a short version put online for those who have less interest in the chatter part and more in the music.
