Since X Made Alcoholic Santaclaus announced their first European tour, it was reason enough to interview this new Heavy Rock’n’roll band! Who is X Made Alcoholic Santaclaus? What can we expect from the upcoming European tour? Time for an introduction interview.

AVO Blog: X Made Alcoholic Santa exists since Christmas Eve 2013, so it is quite a new band! Please give us an introduction about the band members.
CHARLIE: Hi I’m CHARLIE (g), I like Hard Rock and Blues, That’s the kind of music I like.
Vocalist KEI likes Visualkei and also HIP HOP music. He has 2 cats.
MASAYA (g) is kind of a maniac about all of ROCK, he’s little bit “old school” like my father. *laughs*
yu-ta (dr) has a lot of experience in this music scene and he gave me all the time to get inspiration for the activity of this band.
Anyway everybody loves drinks and Rock n’ roll.

X Made Alcoholic Santaclaus

AVO Blog: How did you guys meet each other and how did you decide to form the band?
CHARLIE: Before xmas of course we all had activities in other bands, but everybody left ’cause it was not satisfiying. So we became friends and went out for drinks and we talked music and band visions we had ourselves.
And finally we noticed that when we play together it’s very naturally.

AVO Blog: Can you tell us about the concept of X Made Alcoholic Santa and talk about why you have chosen for the band name X Made Alcoholic Santa? Is there any special meaning behind it? Do you have something with the celebration of Christmas?
CHARLIE: I love X’mas season very much. That mood, feelings. And my target was if I made my next band, I wanted put that X’mas feeling.
So I think about it when we were together. We are drunk rock guys so I decide on the name for this band, X Made Alcoholic Santa was perfect!

AVO Blog: It’s been more than a year and a half since XMAS started activities. You have accomplished a lot (concerts, new album, collaboration with fashionbrand KUSTOMSTYLE), what has been your greatest accomplishment so far?
CHARLIE: We have performed at many places in Japan these days.
And we released first single “Arribada” last year with a good quality Music Video, maybe you know it already.
My activity for “KUSTOM STYLE” is fashion model and also I design some costumes with that brand.
But most important is that our activity is having fun and drinking every day. *laughs* I don’t remember when but we had a lot of crazy experiences like when we were very drunk and bought 20 hamburgers for each person on that night.

AVO Blog: Let’s talk about releases! In November 2014 you released your first EP named アリバダ. What song would you recommend the most to your listeners and why?
CHARLIE: Anyway everybody please, please listen to our first impact “Arribada”.
And “Fighters” my guitar solo!

AVO Blog: In the music video of アリバダ you are all in black from top to toe (also your body is painted black). What is the reason behind this?
CHARLIE: アリバダ (Arribada) means sea turtles.
This line “The greatest work of one’s life time” was used in the lyrics.
How to say… This title means we do something for a special moment like a ritual. so we decide to have black faces in our Music Video. It’s like a “ritual”
spawning.

AVO Blog: Have you decided your next release yet?
CHARLIE: Yes. We just finished our first album for this first European tour.
Now we work on the cover design and a new Music Video. (rev. It has been announced that they will release the album Nouveau départ at the start of their European tour. The new music video has been just released.)

AVO Blog: As far as music is concerned, what are some of your influences (Japanese and worldwide) and why?
CHARLIE: Everybody listen a lot of different styles.
But everybody listens to Deftones , TOOL , LUNA SEA , THE MAD CAPSULE MARKETS , L’Arc~en~Ciel , hide etc…
Especially my favourite bands are BACKYARD BABIES and GUNS N’ ROSES.

AVO Blog: What is your favourite part of being in the band? Making new music, performing on stage or something else?
CHARLIE: I like this music style (Loud&Heavy, Irregular meter, Japanese) and of course performing LIVE!

AVO Blog: It has just been announced that you will go on an European tour with REALive. Why did you decide to go on a tour outside Japan?
CHARLIE: The Japanese music scene is difficult for us hahaha, sometimes they choose shitty boring ways.
And I had dreamed about playing in the EU when I was young, it’s true.

AVO Blog: What can we expect from your first European tour and the shows?
CHARLIE: Amazing rock n’ roll show like a hell!

AVO Blog: At the moment (when we have this interview) there are no dates announced yet, but are there any specific countries or cities where you would like to perform?
France, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden.

AVO Blog: Talking about alcohol. What are your favourite alcoholic drinks? Are there drinks you want to try out in Europe?
CHARLIE: Beer beer beer. And BEER.
If you know some interesting alcoholic beverages, please give me some information. We’ll try them all! *laughs*

AVO Blog: We are unfortunately at the end of the interview. Do you have a message for the Dutch and Belgian readers?
CHARLIE: Merry X’mas n Let’s enjoy the show!!!
We are looking forward to meeting everyone!

More information about their upcoming European tour can be found here. Don’t forget to check out the OHP,Facebook and Twitter of X Made Alcoholic Santaclaus. I want to thank CHARLIE for his time, REALive for making this interview possible and the guest bloggers of AVO for their help!
