Haru Nemuri, the singer-songwriter and poetry rapper who conquered the European hearts last Summer, will get her chance of performing in the United States for the first time. She has been confirmed as one of the many musicians to perform at South by Southwest (SXSW) next year.
The 2020-edition of SXSW will take place from 13 March till 22 March in Austin, Texas. Haru Nemuri spoke about her wish to perform at the festival on her social media, asking people to eventually book her at other shows as well, so that she can tour in the United States (and maybe further). SXSW is the largest music festival of its kind in the world, providing stages for more than 2000 acts from all over the world spread over 10 days. The festival also focuses on film and technology.

Haru Nemuri has been working hard to make her work known overseas. She did a European tour this Summer with mostly sold-out shows, but also toured in Asia. For the musician, it was a big deal to perform at Primavera Sound 2019, a large music festival with an attendance of around 175,000 people, while she is an independent artist. But before this all, she released her debut album 春と修羅 (Haru To Shura) in 2018, which received critical acclaim all over the world. Currently, the album has gotten almost 4 million streams on Spotify. Haru Nemuri’s music can be called Japanese pop for new generations and the musician is currently working on her new release.

Great opportunity for her! I do not think she wants to be a star but it’s a great reward for her special approach towards music and fans/ the crowd… It is a pity I missed her shows… Maybe this US gig will bring her to the Amsterdam Paradiso or Melkweg….
Hmm.. I have the idea that she really wants to become more known, otherwise, she wouldn’t even tour overseas. I am not sure what your description of a star is.
