Along with the announcement of their thirteenth album, Snowdrop, which MONO will release this coming June, the Japanese instrumental rock band also revealed their world tour plans. In addition to performances in their home country, a number of locations in Asia and even Australia, MONO will also be returning to Europe for various shows, which are scheduled to take place in January and February 2027. It is expected that the band will reveal more details about the Snowdrop world tour in the coming weeks. Given our focus and base in Europe, this article will focus on the European tour plans.
Seventeen shows are currently scheduled, with performances in eight countries, including a show at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht and Le Botanique in Brussels. The Snowdrop tour in Europe kicks off with three concerts in Germany – in Berlin, Dresden and Munich – and concludes in the United Kingdom with a show at London’s Electric Ballroom.
Their previous album, OATH, was recorded in 2023 in collaboration with musician and audio engineer Steve Albini, with whom they had worked for many years. With his passing in 2024, this became unexpectedly the last album they had worked on together. With this in mind, and based on the band’s description, the new album seems a logical addition to the discography of this instrumental rock band.
The band shared the following description of the album to give a better idea of what to expect from Snowdrop: ‘Without exception, everyone will eventually depart this world and face the parting from their loved ones. Through this album, we wished to express our “eternal gratitude” to those precious people who walked alongside us on the journey of life. We believe this sentiment is the only thing capable of filling the void left in our hearts and easing the profound sorrow and pain of loss. Every flower carries its own unique language. For this album, we incorporated the messages imbued in flowers given to those who have passed into the titles of our songs. Our hope is that this album serves as a source of light and hope for those who have lost someone dear.’
