Last September and October, experimental progressive rock band Green Milk From The Planet Orange toured Europe extensively. This spring, the three-piece makes their return to Europe as one of the acts announced for the upcoming edition of Sonic Whip in Nijmegen. This Dutch festival provides a stage for musical acts in the corner of psychedelia, fuzz, noise, acid, stoner, kraut, punk, and garage, among others. Whether a European tour will be attached for Green Milk From The Planet Orange is unclear at the time of writing, but what is clear is that the trio will be seen on Doornroosje’s stage on Friday 16 May.

Ticket sales for Sonic Whip have already started and a day ticket for Friday is €57.50 (€59.50 for a Saturday ticket), if you are interested in attending the whole weekend, you can buy a weekend ticket for €105. Specifically for Friday, doors open at 3 pm and the first band will start half an hour later. The exact start time for Green Milk From The Planet Orange will be announced at a later date, for that it is useful to keep an eye on Doornroosje‘s website.

Green Milk from the Planet Orange are a band from Tokyo that got formed after the disbanding of psychedelic stoner grind band No Rest for the Dead. Two musicians from that band, A and Dead K decided that they were ready to start something new leading to the creation of Green Milk from the Planet Orange in 2001. There have been several changes in the band line-up in regards to bass players, even Margarette Hiroi (now active in 88Kasyo Junrei) was a bass player for a short while. After a hiatus from 2008 to 2016, Green Milk from the Planet Orange returned with the current line-up of A on drums, Dead K on guitar and Damo on bass. The music they create with this band gets described as an mixture of the music genres progressive rock, psychedelic rock and punk. In 2019, they released their third album, titled appropriately titled Third.

In 2023, the band announced that they have remastered their second album CITY CALLS REVOLUTION released in 2005 and is now available as a digital release on Bandcamp, after the album had been out of print for years. In March, the band released a split EP with American psychedelic punk band FUCKWOLF, titled LET’S SPLIT (裂けても), to celebrate the fact that the San Francisco-based band would be touring Japan in March and April which was organised by the band members of Green Milk From The Planet Orange. This release appeared on vinyl this year and remarkably contains only one track from Green Milk From The Planet Orange, while FUCKWOLF is represented with six tracks. However, the track from Green Milk From The Planet Orange is a live recording of over 19 minutes.
