A portrait of Ichiko Aoba taken by Kodai Kobayashi. The atmosphere of the photo is dreamy thanks to the filter that gives soft hues. Combined with this photo is a shot of two ants walking in the sun.

After a busy year with festivals and tours singer-songwriter Ichiko Aoba is gearing up for the release of a new album called Luminescent Creatures and a tour to celebrate its release that will pass by various countries/states in Asia, Europe and North America. The tour will start on the 24th of February in Hong Kong and end on the 22nd of May with a final show in Mexico city.

Since Ichiko Aoba left Europe after her concert in Germany last September, she has slowly brought her fans in the mood for Luminescent Creatures, her upcoming album, with the release Lucifèrine, a song reminiscent of a fantastical fairy tale, on the 12th of November and FLAG, a track with a mysterious nostalgic sound, on the 12th of December. Luminescent Creatures came to life as a spiritual successor to the story told in her 2020 album Windswept Adan and was not only inspired by the beauty of the sea and all life that can be found within but also the terrifying depths that can swallow up a person. That awe-inducing contrast provided a lot of inspiration for the dreamy vistas that will be explored on the album.

To celebrate the release of the new album and to give fans the chance to experience the new songs live, Ichiko Aoba will head on the Luminescent Creatures world tour. The tour will kick off in Asia with a show in Hong Kong on the 24th of February and on the 10th of March she will kick-off the European leg of the tour with two shows in Spain, namely Barcelona and Valencia, a show in Italy’s Milan and in Zürich, Switzerland. After which she will move on to Hamburg and Berlin in Germany before heading east to play two shows in the Netherlands namely in Utrecht and Groningen. Two days later she visits Belgium’s Borgerhout, followed by a show in France, her capital Paris and ending with a whopping four concerts in the United Kingdom, with a visit to: London, Manchester, Gateshead and Glasgow. There is a possibility that new shows will be added, for that it is useful to keep an eye on Ichiko Aoba’s social media.

Not only does the world have a new album and an album tour to look forward to, Japanese fans can also look forward to the celebration of her 15th Anniversary with two Tokyo-based concerts in January. As such it’s probably a very busy time period for Ichiko Aoba but also a really exciting time period for her fans!

The editing is done by Floor Toppets @/fl00r99 on Instagram, and shows blurring and filters, making it an abstract photo.
