In August, the four-piece rock band THE STEREOGANG from Kochi will be performing at Taubertal Festival, a large outdoor music festival in Germany, after winning the national final of Emergenza 2024, an annual music festival and competition for musicians in bands, groups and solo who are offered the chance to perform internationally and get a kickstart to get more known internationally. The performance at the Taubertal Festival is the final stage of the competition and the winner will also be announced during this festival.
This year’s Taubertal Festival will take place from 8 to 11 August in the town Rothenburg ob der Tauber and THE STEREOGANG’s performance is scheduled for Friday evening on the Sounds For Nature Stage.
Based in Kochi, the activities of THE STEREOGANG started in the summer of 2021 when the band members were still in university. Centred around vocalist and guitarist Miu, who has a deep love for Western music. The band draws influences from bands such as KISS, Mötley Crüe, Halestorm, and Paramore, to name a few, but emphasises that they are not guided by contemporary trendy music. Focusing primarily on English-language songs, the four-piece released their self-titled debut album last August, followed by an EP, titled WILD SIDE, in May of this year.
The Japanese rock band will compete at Taubertal Festival against 7 other bands from various countries, including four-piece death metal band Throne of Roaches from Sweden, four-piece pop rock band Duvaan from Finland, five-piece neo-blue rock band Magustry from the Netherlands, singer-songwriter Franck. from France, five-piece alternative pop rock band Von Krogh from Norway, four-piece alternative rock band Molutov from Germany, and five-piece Ejent from Italy. On Sunday, the winner of Emergenza 2024 will be announced and will perform again to celebrate the fact.
Last year, Japanese instrumental music project TRAinnovation won Emergenza with their fusion of traditional music and electronic elements. Will THE STEREOGANG manage to secure another victory for Japan?
